Who They Are
Beyond Type 1 is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2015 and focuses on various advocacy efforts for type 1 diabetes. The non-profit provides resources and education and social connection opportunities for patients and families. They also help facilitate fundraising for research and outreach through various events, with a specific focus on “education, advocacy and the path to a cure for type 1 diabetes.”
What They Do
Although it is a relatively young organization, Beyond Type 1 has various partners across the globe and has established numerous programs that help make a difference. These encompass an array of outreach efforts, including:
Most recently, they also launched Beyond Type 2, a program that provides support to patients living with type 2 diabetes.
Beyond Type 1 conducts much of its advocacy through its robust social media presence across various platforms and boasts over 2 million community members. According to the 2018 report, they currently have the largest online presence of any diabetes organization.
Amazingly, the small organization has raised over $5 million in just several years since its inception.
